The Herb Cottage Nursery
is a rural nursery in Lavaca County, TX with a focus on herb plants of all kinds, seasonal vegetable seedlings and a great and varied selection of succulents and cacti. We are one of only a handful of nurseries selling Olive Trees in the area.
I use organic practices for growing all my healthy and nutritional plants. No chemical fertilizer, herbicides or pesticides are ever used. I use no GMO seeds and only buy seeds from reputable sources.
I love to talk herbs and gardening so stop on in and browse the plant selection, be entertained by the guinea fowl,

watch the fish in the water garden and TALK PLANTS!

The Seed Selection on hand at the Nursery will fulfill many of your needs. You can view the selection in the Seed Section of the website. I carry coir, a sterile potting ingredient, and I have my own potting mix for seed starting or containers. There is also a selection of Organic Fertilizers for sale: Garden-Ville Sea Tea, Medina Hasta-Gro as well as granular soil amendments. All organic, all natural.
The Herb Cottage Website
is your source for information about herb growing and gardening, with an emphasis on growing and gardening in the humid south where winters are mild and summers are very hot and humid with the occasional hurricane or drenching rain. As with many parts of the country, the weather seems to have become more extreme, and as gardeners, we have to learn to do our best to cope with the weather. We sure can't change it!!
12/03--Upon request of several of our far-away friends, I've added a tour of the farm. If you'd like to see what the farm looks like on a winter morning where The Herb Cottage is located, click here.
I try to keep to the following schedule for Open Hours at The Herb Cottage. But, I run the Nursery on my own, so occasionally I must leave during "Open Hours". The second Wednesday of each Month I'm in Rockport with the Rockport Herb and Rose Society, and the Nursery is CLOSED.
