Easy To Follow 7 Tips To a Dream Garden

In today's oh-so-hectic world, you may feel you just don't have the time to put into being a great gardener, but it really doesn't take as much time as you may think. If you have even a slight love for gardening, you can make it happen for you just by designing a special low-maintenance garden. You could even add some white porch swings to your new garden for more excitement.

These gardens take far less time to keep up on than a standard garden would. Here are some of the best ways to create your dream garden...today!
  • Just say NO to weeds~

The best way to deal with having weeds in your garden, is to NOT have weeds in your garden to begin with. Just think of all the time you could save by not having to deal with the pulling of weeds each and every week. To prevent weeds in the first place, you should dig up all the soil, and dig down deep into the ground and get to the roots of the weeds. When you pull up the weeds by their roots, they will not be able to grow ever again. It's that easy.

  • If you don't plan, it won't happen~

You need to know ahead of time if you want special additions like rocks and other stone work in your garden before you start planting your flowers or grasses. You don't want to double the work, so get it right the first time. A paved rock walk path would be a lovely addition to any garden setting, but it would also be a great way to move around your garden without actually stepping on any flowers or plants.

  • Low-maintenance~

If you want a low-maintenance garden that will work, and work well, you need to plan everything out in advance. Try to pick plants and flowers that are more low-maintenance than others. There are some that hardly need any water, and are very slow growing. You will want to dig up the soil in the garden, and be sure to dig down deep so you can remove all the weeds as well as their troublesome roots. This will make it very hard for the weeds to spring up again anytime in the future. If you don't have weeds, you won't have to work for hours and hours every week trying to get rid of them.

  • What Shape?

It may not seem like such a big deal to figure out what shape you want your garden to be in, but it will make a difference to how you can maintain your garden. You probably will end up mowing the lawn a lot, so make sure your garden is a long, rectangular shape, or even long, curving shapes would work well too. Having a paved rock path will help make sure that your lawn will stay in that same position too!

  • Attractive Containers~

Why not put some of your more special flowers or plants into beautiful, intricate pots or other containers. It will catch the eye of your visitors if they are in lovely pots rather than a boring brown pot with nothing exciting about it. Plus, if you ever have a weather emergency you can grab your pots and quickly bring in your plants and flowers to the comfort (and safety) of the indoors without much hassle.

  • Use Low Water Plants~

If you really want a low-maintenance garden, why not look into only selecting plants and flowers that use a low amount of water. This is also called Xeriscaping. They are more drought resistant than those plants that use a lot of water. Just think about how easy it would be to have a garden that only needs to be watered once every week. You will also save a TON on your water bills each month as well.

  • Time to Water & Prune Your masterpiece~

If you want the garden that will make everyone around you jealous, you need to maintain it by pruning and watering on a regular basis. If you choose plants that need the least amount of water and tend to grow pretty slowly, even better. Most of the work is already done for you just by selecting them.

If you prune, you will keep your plants healthy, but be sure to try to keep the more natural shape of the plant as you prune. Artificial looking shrubs just aren't as cool as they used to be. Natural is definitely much better today!

Watering on a regular basis will not just keep your plants and flowers happy, but also alive. All living things need water, and plants are no different. To make your life easier, you may want to use an automatic watering system that comes on each day on a timer.

Just remember that if you want the best garden around, you need to put a little effort into making it a magical place everyone wants to visit. But once you are done with planning it all out, you can begin to create your dream garden by tonight!
