Herbal Shampoo Bars – The Ecological Alternative?

More and more people are dropping conventional liquid shampoos and turning to a solid, natural shampoo. Shampoo bars are a great natural, zero-waste alternative to your regular hair care products.

Shampoo bars are extraordinary: no plastic packaging, a product that lasts longer and all-natural ingredients that respect the balance of your hair. Products like naked shampoo bars are some of the best ways to live more naturally while helping our environment and reducing pollution from plastics, non-biodegradable and toxic products.

An average bottle of liquid shampoo can be up to 80% water; it makes no sense to pay for a large plastic bottle filled with water which is also filled with a cocktail of preservatives such as parabens, synthetic fragrances, SLS, and other questionable chemicals. Sure, that smells good and it lathers, but all this comes at a price! We all know that it is time to change the consumption of comfort packed with plastic, industrially produced. The transition to Shampoo bar is an obvious choice when we want to reduce our plastic waste and protect our environment, while doing a lot good for our hair.

Shampoo bars are extremely concentrated blocks of moisturizing oils, processed by cold saponification and produced without any toxic products. Inexpensive, depending on your hair type and how often you wash your hair, a bar of shampoo can do quite a few washes equivalent to three bottles of shampoo.

Eco-friendly And Non-toxic For The Environment

Did you know that 80 billion bottles of shampoo and conditioner are accumulated as waste every year around the world, most of which end up in landfills and even in our oceans? A real continent of plastic! In recent years, zero waste products have grown in popularity. By becoming aware of our ecological footprint (which we must significantly reduce!). Many are turning to naked products, without packaging, which do not fill our garbage dumps.

Shampoos bars are one of those easy-to-adopt alternatives that significantly reduce our plastic consumption. Everything is made locally and packaged in a pretty minimalist and compostable packaging.

Why Shampoo Bars

Shampoo bars are produced by an age-old method called ‘cold saponification’. It is the combination of oils, sodium hydroxide and pure spring water that creates the magic of transforming these raw ingredients that otherwise would not be capable of cleaning your hair or anything else, into amazing shampoo bars. This creates an emulsion, which hardens a little (like mayonnaise). At that moment, the last special ingredients (clays, milk, virgin oils, essential oils, etc) are added. This composition is then put in bar-shaped moulds and matured for 24 hours. These loaves are then stripped off of excess product by cutting. A drying process of about 4 weeks is then required to allow the soda to perform its action. Once the process is complete, there is no more oil or soda, but only an excellent shampoo bar full of essential properties for your hair.

Almost all “Liquid” shampoos are made from detergents such as SLS and DEA. They strip all the natural oils from your hair and scalp. You then need to use a conditioner in order to even get a comb through your unmanageable hair.

Shampoo bars do not require a conditioner as they do not strip all natural oils. They only remove the excess oils, dirt, and grime while leaving some of your natural oils intact to keep your skin and scalp healthy and vibrant. This is what nature intended.

Contribute To Zero Waste

A zero waste lifestyle is becoming more and more important. If you want to get started too, why not start with the zero waste shampoo?

It has been a few years since the zero waste “ecological concept” entered the lifestyle of a large section of society. What is zero waste? This is actually to reduce the amount of waste produced by consuming in a different way. There are grocery stores and several brands dedicated to the production of zero waste items. You can therefore integrate zero waste in the kitchen, but also in your bathroom. There are now Shampoo bars that meet this ecological objective (no more plastic bottles or packaging). Why not reduce your ecological impact by incorporating zero waste shampoo into your hair routine? You can wash your hair while taking care of the environment.

Often we don’t sort our wastes in our bathrooms. The bathroom is a mine of bottles: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hair oil, and whatnot. Soaps and Shampoo bars avoid most plastic waste.

The idea is not to stop taking care of your hair but you can enormously reduce its impact on the environment with the shampoo bar. If you don’t have enough time for hair care then, Shampoo bars are space-saving, more effective and less toxic. Precisely, If you do not like to get too cluttered with bottles of shampoo when you go on a trip. The shampoo bar is much more practical for you.
