How can I enjoy outdoor living?

If you feel you are not spending enough time outdoors you are probably right! It’s good for us to enjoy the fresh air, yet in an age of busy working lives you’re not alone if you’re not getting out as much as you wish. As we will see in the following article there are things that you can do that will encourage you to get outside more, but you have to make the time to do so. Let’s start by talking about your available outdoor space.

Furnish Your Yard or Garden

Do you have a yard or garden, or any sort of outdoor space? Even if it is communal there is a good reason for putting some furniture out there. If there is somewhere to sit, and perhaps a table to place a drink on, you are more likely to read your newspaper in the sunshine, or take a book out there, or simply spend time sitting outside relaxing.

Check out this great choice modern garden furniture from EQ3. Clean designs, made for outdoor use and weather resistant, this is a good place to start looking for furniture for your outdoor space. Even if you only have a small yard a table and a couple of chairs will make all the difference. And a top tip: don’t forget outdoor lighting so you can enjoy those evenings too.

Spend More Time Outdoors

Why not take up a hobby that means you have to spend more time outdoors? Cycling perhaps, or even just walking. Try and take a walk every couple of days – or at weekends if you are too tired after a long day at work – with the family or by yourself. Or get friends to come with you and enjoy the outdoors. There will be places not far from you that you have yet to explore, that offer a great opportunity for walking and enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. Even a short stroll around the neighbourhood will help, so set aside some time and see where it takes you.

Take Up Gardening

Gardening seems like a chore for some people, but if you spend some time and get used to what is needed in a garden it actually becomes pleasurable. Not only that but it is known to be therapeutic. Many people who suffer mental health issues are advised to spend time gardening as there is a wealth of evidence it is good for your well-being.

You could start by getting a few planters and putting flowers in them. Or why not grow vegetable and fruit? It can be done in even the smallest of outdoor spaces with a touch of innovative thought, and in a few months, you could be harvesting your own crops! Have a look at gardening blogs and such and you’ll get some inspiration. Even tending a small lawn is therapeutic, so perhaps start there? You will get to enjoy it and it will do you good.

Install an Outdoor Gym

Here’s an interesting idea for those reading this who enjoy working out and keeping fit: get hold of some outdoor gym equipment and set it up. There’s a lot of choice in this sort of equipment as many people have realised the benefit of exercising outdoors – indeed there are many examples of municipal outdoor gyms across the land – and it’s a great way of keeping fit while enjoying your outdoor space.

Think pull up bars attached to a wall to begin with, and perhaps a beam for added innovation, and you’ll soon get the idea. There are plenty of blogs to check out on this subject that should give your further inspiration.

Build a Hot Tub

Lastly, everyone’s favourite idea: put a hot tub in your garden, perhaps with decking around it and a lit seated area. Hot tubs were once very expensive, but those days are long gone, and you can now buy a good one for a few hundred dollars. Decking adds to the appeal as does lighting so don’t forget to go the whole way and create a beautiful relaxing space you can enjoy with friends and family.

That’s it from us and we hope we’ve given you suitable inspiration to start enjoying the outdoor life.
